Job Information

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of professional and dedicated staff either as an aspiring HR Manager at Grade 3 or as an experienced HR Manager at Grade 4. If you are at the start of your HR Journey and wish to further develop your skills and experience as a HR Administrator, this is an excellent opportunity for you to join a forward thinking collaborative Trust. We will support you to complete a CIPD qualification to aid your progression to the HR Manager role.

Mayfield School is a special school for 310 pupils aged between 2 and 19 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities including autism. Mayfield is a Unicef Rights Respecting School on a journey to achieve gold status.

The school is split across two sites - Wheeler Street in Lozells (co-located with Holte School and Lozells Junior and Infant School and Nursery) and Heathfield Road in Handsworth. Successful applicants can be asked to work at either site depending on the needs of the school.

For the Grade 3 role you will have experience of and be able to:

  • provide an efficient and professional HR or administrative support service in a school or similar environment
  • maintain confidentiality
  • use Microsoft office and other software competently
  • demonstrate efficiency and good organisational skills
  • demonstrate good communication skills and good interpersonal skills
  • demonstrate personal resilience and a commitment to your own professional development and to the stakeholders with whom you will work
  • take minutes at meetings and handle sensitive information confidentially

For the Grade 4 role you will have experience of:

  • providing an efficient and professional HR Support Service in a school or similar environment
  • administering the recruitment process
  • monitoring and updating the single central record to ensure safeguarding compliance
  • monitoring staff absence
  • assisting with disciplinary and grievance procedures

The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate confidentiality in a prior role. You will have a strong desire to develop your HR Career.
