The Federation of Boldmere Schools is comprised of two three-form entry schools and an additional Resource Base, which are all located on the same site on Cofield Road in Sutton Coldfield. We have over 700 pupils on site and have an excellent reputation of delivering high quality education at each of our settings.
Due to the retirement of our existing Building Services Manager, we are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking individual to join our team. You will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance, health and safety, and overall well-being of our school environment and its occupants, aligning closely with guidelines and legislation. We will support the successful candidate with a hand over prior to the starting date.
You will carry out a range of responsibilities to include:-- carrying out general maintenance and DIY works around the school site
- dealing with external contractor visits and liaising with contractors through any major works
- opening and closing the school buildings ensuring the security of our site
- leading on all aspects of Health and Safety around the school
- moving furniture/equipment when required
- ensuring all maintenance and H&S take place within the timescales
- undertaking cleaning as required both inside and outside covering all the school grounds
- carry out all directed daily tasks to an excellent standard
- to be the principal key holder for the premises and be responsive to any emergency situations that arise within the school premises, including those of which occur outside of designated working hours
- with your leadership and forward thinking, our site and school grounds will not only meet but exceed standards, ensuring a conducive learning environment for our pupils and our school community
You will:
- have sound technical knowledge of buildings compliance
- be professional and presentable at all times
- ideally have previous school caretaking experience
- be flexible with working hours and job requirements as these may be subject to change at any time
- be required to live on site and become a tenant of our on-site accommodation
- be expected to work through school holidays and at weekends when required
- ensure that you meet all elements of the job description associated with this post
- be expected to achieve ‘best value’ when obtaining quotes for works required
Other requirements are as follows:
- previous experience of working with and managing contractors working in school buildings
- proven practical skills in maintenance and cleaning
- experience of managing Health & Safety, contractors, cleaning staff
- relevant up to date training and evidence of CPD – Health and Safety, Manual Handling, COSHH etc. to ensure statutory compliance obligations
- a good working knowledge of information technology
- work effectively with all existing contractors, suppliers and commissioned outside services to ensure the effective management of the school site
