Job Information

Oscott Manor School is looking to appoint a highly skilled, calm and reflective practitioner to join our team in the role of Teaching Assistant. Our school is a community special school for pupils aged between 11 and 19 with autism as their primary diagnosis. We are proud to be a UNICEF Rights Respecting School.

This is an exciting time to join Oscott Manor. We are at the beginning of an improvement journey to provide a high quality education for all pupils who attend here. This is a fast paced and energetic environment, where all staff are committed to working together, with families, to improve the life chances of the pupils in our care. Teaching Assistants are valued in our school and have a key role in supporting access to the curriculum, following individual education, health and care plans and enabling all pupils to achieve and succeed.

We are looking for someone who is a good role model, has experience of working directly with children or young people with additional needs in a primary, secondary or special school setting and is firmly committed to inclusion. This post could be based in any class and any key stage working with pupils who have differences in terms of their social interaction, social communication and understanding of emotions. Our pupils need clear boundaries and consistent support with engagement, learning, emotional regulation, sensory needs and behaviour management.

Special school experience is not necessary providing you have a willingness to learn and a dedication to securing positive outcomes for all pupils.

At Oscott Manor School, all adults act as duty bearers to advocate for children’s rights and we expect all staff to uphold the rights of the child in every action they take.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
