Job Information

Allens Croft Primary School is a diverse, fully inclusive two-form entry school, with three Resource Bases, set in extensive grounds in the Kings Heath area of Birmingham.

We are looking to appoint committed, enthusiastic, reliable and caring Teaching Assistant with responsibility for personal care across the school to join our team. As a Teaching Assistant with responsibility for personal care, you will work closely with our experienced staff to provide high-quality care and support to children with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with additional needs and administering personal care.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • provide one-to-one/team support to children with complex medical needs
  • oversee the day-to-day medical procedures for students in school including intimate care, personal care, nappy changing and toileting
  • provide diabetic management and sickle cell monitoring
  • support children with eating and drinking, including PEG feeding throughout the school day
  • assist children with restricted mobility to move between mobility aids
  • develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families and staff
  • maintain accurate records of care and support provided
  • work closely with the SEND team to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children update student Individual Healthcare Plans with the support of the SEND team

Previous experience of working with children with complex medical needs and/or in an educational setting is essential, specific training will also be provided.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
