Marlborough Primary School, a leading primary school located in the heart of the community, is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Learning Mentor Officer. This role is integral to our school's mission of providing a supportive and nurturing environment for our students.
Role Overview: As the Learning Mentor you will play a pivotal role in supporting and guiding our students towards achieving their full potential. Your responsibilities will encompass promoting regular attendance, providing mentoring support to children, managing the office member of staff who will support with the administration tasks, and assisting with behaviour management. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will contribute to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment that fosters academic progress and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- implement strategies to improve attendance rates and reduce persistent absenteeism
- build strong relationships with students, parents, and carers to understand and address attendance issues effectively
- provide one-on-one mentoring support to identified students, helping them overcome obstacles and develop key life skills
- collaborate with teachers and SLT to devise and implement targeted interventions for students facing challenges
- monitor and track attendance data, ensuring accurate records are maintained and reporting any concerns to relevant stakeholders
- assist with office support tasks, including administrative duties, record-keeping, and producing reports
- contribute to the school's behaviour management policy, promoting positive behaviour and resolving conflicts when necessary
- organize and deliver workshops or training sessions for parents, focusing on the importance of regular attendance and parental engagement
Safeguarding: At Marlborough Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our students is paramount. You will be expected to uphold our robust safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the welfare of all children under your care. Supporting the SLT to manage all safeguarding concerns and escalate them to external agencies if needed.
Requirements:
- a genuine passion for supporting and mentoring children
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- an understanding of the importance of regular attendance and its impact on student achievement
- strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- experience in behaviour management and implementing positive strategies
- familiarity with safeguarding policies and procedures
