We are looking for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our school in January 2025. Beaufort School has 94 pupils who have complex needs, these include PMLD, SLD and ASD. Many of our pupils use alternative communication such as Makaton and PECS to support their learning. progress and social skills.
Experience or relevant qualifications working within an educational establishment are vital for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant position at Beaufort School. Our pupils have complex needs which need support through communication and behaviour strategies, our staff are committed to providing an educational environment that supports life long learning for all pupils. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is motivated, resilient and able to work as part of a class team but also a school wide team.
You will support the teacher in creating opportunities for the children to learn in their own individual ways. You will need to be experienced in working with SEND pupils. The complexity of the pupils means that staff need to be creative, flexible, patient, and perceptive, as the children's learning is individualised for their academic and social needs. Part of the role is to support pupil observations and to deliver educational activities to small groups of pupils. Working closely with the teacher and other professionals such as SALT and OT will be a requirement of the role.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:- flexibility to work across the school’s classes
- the ability to work using your initiative, and as part of a team
- clear and effective communication with pupils, parents and colleagues
- have initiative and the desire to take ownership of tasks
- you must be confident in supporting the learning of small groups of pupils
- you must have a sound knowledge of supporting early readers with their phonics/ emergent reading strategies
- you must be willing to support class teams with the postural management of pupils with physical disabilities
- to support language and communication development
