A Senior Office Manager is required for a full-time permanent role, at Wheelers Lane Primary School, Kings Heath.

As Senior Office Manager, you will work with us to:

  • operate, maintain and develop the administrative and financial procedures and systems of the school in partnership with Governors, ensuring that all legal and safety requirements with regard to people and property are fully met
  • be the point of contact for the school site and its buildings and their maintenance
  • manage the efficient and effective running of the school office, devising new systems as required and improving business efficiency and quality standards

The postholder will strategically manage clerical, and administrative support, to enable the delivery of a professional and efficient administrative service.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for you to have the following skills and experience:

  • excellent knowledge of financial processes and procedures e.g. Placing orders, processing invoices, bank reconciliation, salary payment reconciliation
  • comprehensive Microsoft Excel and Word Skills
  • a  good overall knowledge of HR best practice such as GDPR policy and procedures and recruitment processes
  • experience of working in a school environment would be advantageous but is not essential
  • is able to build positive relationships with staff, children and families
  • can work as part of a team
  • is able to lead and manage a team
  • is willing to go the extra mile

We are a full cheque book school, so the impact of Oracle is minimal upon our finance processes. We have BACS set up and working effectively. We will have agreed a package with a new provider for personnel and payroll before the job start date. Support and training from the outgoing post holder will be in place to ensure a smooth transition to the role. The post is to begin Spring/Summer term 2025 (dependent upon notice period). Applicants for the post should ideally have up-to-date knowledge and experience of school finance and HR and have worked in a school office setting.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
