We are a large three form entry, inclusive and friendly school with a big heart.
We are seeking an excellent teaching assistant to work with a pupil with additional needs. You will work closely with the year group class teachers, SENCO, support staff and relevant external agencies to implement and support the provision advised. This role is well suited to someone who is able to work flexibly, intuitively and who has a genuine desire for supporting those with special needs. The role will involve liaising and working closely with the SENCO and be able to work as part of a team within a large and busy school community. It would also suit someone with relevant experience of supporting pupils with an ASD and SEMH. Ongoing CPD forms part of this role, a willingness to develop your skills and be a reflective practitioner. We are looking for the following attributes:
- A level 2 or above teaching qualification (or working towards Level 3)
- recent and relevant experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with an ASD and SEMH diagnosis
- experience in de-escalating heightened, emotional and dysregulation behaviours
- provide supporting strategies to help pupils regulate and understand a range of different emotions; time allocated to deliver planned opportunities to develop social interaction skills
- enhanced and individualised PSHE planning to support emotional regulation needs e.g. zones of regulation, emotion coaching approaches
- helping to support pupil’s well-being, raising their self-esteem and building positive relationships with a trusted adult and their peers
- an understanding of how to adapt the learning to a personalised, individualised curriculum model of provision
- ensure a consistent approach and use of strategies to support routines and transition periods
- the ability to demonstrate and promote positive behaviour
- has high expectations and challenges themselves and the pupils they work with
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- a strong work ethic, with a committed and enthusiastic attitude
