Job Overview:

Broadmeadow Infant and Nursery School are seeking a dedicated and reliable Lunchtime Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and good behaviour of our students during lunchtime.

This role is essential in supporting our school's commitment to providing a positive and nurturing environment for our pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision of Students:

• monitor students in the dining hall, playground, and other areas during lunchtime to ensure a safe and orderly environment

Behaviour Management:

• encourage positive behaviour and manage any issues that arise, following the school's behaviour policy

Health & Safety:

• ensure the health and safety of pupils at all times, responding promptly and appropriately to accidents or incidents

Assistance with Meals:

• help younger children with opening food packages, cutting food, and other tasks as needed to ensure they can eat their lunch

Encouragement of Social Skills:

• promote good manners, cooperation, and social interaction among students

First Aid:

• provide basic first aid when necessary and report any incidents to the appropriate staff member

Communication:

• liaise with teaching and support staff to share relevant information about pupil welfare and behaviour

Cleanliness and Tidiness:

• assist with the tidying and cleaning of the dining area and ensure that spillages are dealt with promptly.

Activity Supervision: 

• organise and oversee safe, fun, and engaging activities for students in the playground or other designated areas

 Qualifications and Experience:

Experience:

• previous experience in a similar role or working with children is desirable but not essential

Skills:

• strong interpersonal and communication skills

• ability to work effectively as part of a team

• patience and understanding when dealing with children

• basic first aid knowledge (training can be provided)

• good organisational skills and the ability to handle situations calmly and efficiently

• compassionate and caring approach towards children

Initiative:

• ability to act on own initiative and make decisions when necessary

Flexibility:

• willingness to adapt to varying tasks and situations

Additional Information:

• successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check. • Training in child protection and safeguarding will be provided

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
