Job Information

Ward End Primary School is seeking to appoint a pro-active, enthusiastic, energetic and reliable SEND teacher to join our school.

This is an initial 1-year fixed contract from 1 September 2025.

The position would be to work with a small group of pupils from KS1 with complex learning, sensory and communication needs.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has experience of working with pre-verbal pupils with autism and sensory needs
  • has experience of working in EYFS
  • has experience of working effectively with support staff
  • is patient and resilient with a positive nature
  • is highly skilled and committed
  • is passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with SEND
  • can manage support staff

The role requires:

  • planning and delivering and assessment of the teaching programme for all pupils within the small class in relation to the EYFS curriculum, providing clear structures for practical learning activities and for sequences which both motivate and challenge
  • finding motivating activities and experiences to work towards pupils EHCP/SSPP targets
  • working towards pupils speech, language and communication targets via specialist teaching methods
  • developing pupils understanding and independence with self care
  • developing a learning environment that supports the sensory needs of pupils
  • collaborative working with specialist outside agencies and our in school inclusion team
  • making effective use of a variety of SEND assessment information on pupils’ progress
  • maintaining good order and discipline in accordance with the school behaviour policy and individual pupil needs
