The Conditions of Service for School Teachers in England and Wales (The Burgundy Book) has been updated for the first time in over two decades.
The Burgundy Book is the national agreement between the five teacher unions and the national employers (NEOST) and contains the provisions relating to sick leave and pay, maternity leave and pay, and notice periods.
The 2023 updates relate to the language used and the legislation referred to. There have been no changes to terms and conditions.
